麻豆相关报道 Hospitality and Tourism Management major Zoe Wilcox has been named one of just 18 students nationwide to receive the 2025 US Foods Scholars award.

US Foods is one of the country鈥檚 largest foodservice distributors with 30,000 employees, serving approximately 250,000 restaurants and foodservice operators. Wilcox received a $20,000 scholarship to help cover her education.

鈥淩eceiving this competitive scholarship is still surreal and motivates me to continue pursuing my dreams in hospitality,鈥 she said.

Besides the monetary award, the scholarship also includes professional development opportunities to engage with and learn from US Foods chefs and professionals about trends in hospitality and foodservice.

鈥淪cholars like Zoe are selected through a rigorous application process that showcases not only their academic achievements, but also their passion and vision for the future of food service. Zoe embodies creativity, drive and commitment,鈥 said Jenece Upton, US Foods senior manager of Community Affairs.

Wilcox attended Bishop State Community College and initially chose to pursue nursing, like other members of her family. However, she quickly realized nursing didn鈥檛 align with her passions or personal values. At the same time, she was dedicating much of her time and energy to caring for her young son, who was diagnosed with autism.

鈥淲hile focusing on him, I reflected on what truly brought me joy and realized that I love working with people and creating memorable experiences through food,鈥 she said.

While at Bishop State Wilcox, attended a presentation by South鈥檚 Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, which immediately ignited her interest in the field.

鈥淚 realized I could combine my passions, make meaningful connections and build a career that inspires me every day,鈥 she said.

In addition to the US Foods Scholarship, Wilcox has also been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the National Restaurant Association and a JAG Transfer Scholarship.

Wilcox degree concentration is event marketing. She has landed a position with South鈥檚 Office of Special Events and is learning about event operations, meeting planning and oversight.

鈥淚鈥檒l get hands-on experience in how events come together, from logistics to execution, which is incredibly exciting for me as I continue exploring career paths in hospitality,鈥 Wilcox said.
